SOLO Jade Wind Orb Build!!! W/XX
W/XX Jade Wind Orb Farm Build SOLO!!!!
Stats:
Strength 12
Hammer: 12
Tactics: 10
Skills:
Charge
Sprint
Any 6 other skills you like
Weapon of Choice:
The Ice Breaker (though any othe max dmg hammer will do)
Go to Ran Musu Gardens on Shing Jae Island. Exit to Kinya Province. Exterminate all the bugs (a.k.a. 1-hit-mantis) there that you can find, including the boss. Then prepare to make some turtle-soup on the beaches. When you are done and your appetite is still there, map back to Ran Musu and repeat. Mantisses and Kappas drop about 5% Jade Wind Orbs I think.
Ofc, this build isnt serious, any lvl 20 can farm bugs and turles outside Ran Musu. But Sprint and Charge just makes it go faster. Dont waste time and energy on skills, they are 1-hit anyways, at least for Warrior.
A guildie uses Barrage + ranger sprints, which also seems to do the trick fast enough. Minions dont have the time to kill things, because my wand already kills mantisses on 2nd blow with Necro. Just go for fast and many kills.
You need 250 Jade Wind Orbs (presumably, cos Day of Tengu also needed 250, and various transcripts from Gaile have said the same, but I havent seen them myself). At the END of festival, Emperor appears and you can turn them into Masks. You can also play minigames, special pvp and new quests to earn Orbs, presumably.

I just grab my Assassin and go Assassin's Promise > Death's Chage > 1 shot > repeat. Takes a few seconds if I bother with a dual attack (death blossom).

Lol, well I guess its just the area that makes it perfect for the Orb farming. But thanks all for the great responses ^^, it was just my first solo build I ever posted.
Anyway, 2 other classes can be (mis)used for farming here: Rander, take a flatbow or longbow, barrage and Edge of Extinction. EoE with +40 dmg makes all mantisses in about 2x bubble radius die, after you kill 3 mantisses. See skill for details how this works.
Also, any MM build would be faster than my hammer warrior it appears. BUT dont you guys just love that senseless hammer massacre? Anyway, its jus easier for you, since you dont have to bother about keeping minions alive etc. Maybe Sins are nice as well maybe, unfortunatly, all my 6 slots are taken by other classes.

I think they should rename the festival to the Mantid Festival, we are all already playing the minigame Whack-A-Mantis! :P

Unfortunately I'm stuck away from GW for the day...I'll probably spend most of tommorrow Barrage farming Mantids.
Apparently Elementalists just own this farm...Firestorm...Chain Lightning... Any AoE spell that an elly has...
Arcane Echo + Firestorm probably just kills them all in like 30 seconds or less...
I really wanna try using my monk with a min dmg sword and Balthazar's Aura... just run around and things die before they can run away. I'll likely end up going Mo/Me with Arcane Echo + Balthazar's Aura

Ele spells would just be 2 slow... cast times... recast times... exhaustion... and you need to do 120+ dmg for a mantis.
I tried with my monk, but unfortunatly, Mantisses are so low lvl, that they dont aggro themselves. And their groups are of a size of 2 max. So If u attack 1, only 1 more will attack you. Just as well whack them in the first blow, instead of trying to aggro them 1 by 1...
EDIT: but your idea of Chain lightining sounds fun, only problem is that it is 10 secs recharge. Hammer warrior kills 3 mantisses in that time, without exhaustion effect. And firestorm, meteor shower, etc range of effect dont have a wide enough coverage and are 2 costly, take time. You can probably kill only 2 or 3 mantisses that are close enough together.

AoE is overkill. The enemies are too spaced out. The only sensible way to clear out the Mantes is to kill them one by one.
The easiest way to do is to be an Air Spiker or a Cold Damage Necromancer.
EoE does not work as well as it should...you could take that 5 seconds and spend it somewhere else.

The only sapmmable ele skills that i can think of that might work well is stone daggers and the god aweful skill flare. but yeah aoe is a waste of times since the cast time is way to long to just kill 3 at best.

Another good placed to farm on the island is jaya bluffs, the sensali are really easy for a warrior/mo with hundred blades and live vicariously. also, the yetis drop some rares there too. So you get orbs AND rares. i call that good
